The aim? With one player on the team describing and the other guessing, the teams have to correctly guess as many words/phrases as they can in 60 seconds, trying to beat the highest score set by their colleagues.

DODIG/MELO COMPLETE DOUBLES FIELD AT BARCLAYS ATP WORLD TOUR FINALS

The doubles line-up is set for the 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, to be held at The O2 in London from 9-16 November. Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo clinched their second straight qualification, after Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen lost to eighth seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau 5-7, 6-1, 10-6 on Thursday in the BNP Paribas Masters quarter-finals.

They will join Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, who have already clinched the year-end No. 1 Emirates ATP Doubles Team Ranking for a record 10th time and will attempt to lift their fourth title at the season finale (2003-04, ‘09), 2008 and 2010 champions Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic, Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares, this year’s Roland Garros titlists Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau, 2012 season finale winners Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez, and Australian Open titlists Lukasz Kubot and Robert Lindstedt.

On their season finale debut at The O2 in London last year, Dodig and Melo beat the No. 1-ranked Bryan brothers en route to the semi-finals (l. to Marrero/Verdasco). The Croatian-Brazilian tandem has reached seven tour-level semi-finals (or better) in 2014. The pair finished as runners up at two ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events, the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati (l. to Peya/Soares) and the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters (l. to Melo), and also at the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo (l. to Herbert/Przysiezny). They also advanced to their third Grand Slam semi-final at the US Open (l. to Granollers/Lopez).

In Paris action earlier Thursday, the Bryans - three-time former champions - lost just nine of their service points in a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Kevin Anderson and Zimonjic. Pablo Cuevas and Santiago Giraldo got the better of second seeds and last year’s finalists Peya and Soares 6-4, 7-6(4) in 84 minutes.

DODIG/MELO MAKE WINNING START IN LONDON

Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo won their opening Group B match at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals on Sunday. The seventh seeds defeated second seeds and two-time former titlist Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic 6-3, 7-5 in 77 minutes.

Dodig and Melo got off to a quick start, winning the first three games. Big serves were backed up by well-placed groundstrokes down the middle of the court, which dented Nestor and Zimonjic’s defence. Ready to cross for a point-winning interception, Dodig and Melo were able to maintain their lead to seal the 30-minute opener.

In a competitive second set, Dodig saved two break points in the second game and Melo won a deciding point deuce at 3-4. Nestor got himself out of trouble at 5-5, 15/40, with two aces. But the Canadian then handed Dodig and Melo the crucial break when he struck a double fault.

Nestor and Zimonjic, who are competing together for the final time this week, won the 2008 and 2010 titles at the season finale. The 42-year-old Nestor also won the 2007 (w/Knowles) and 2011 (w/Mirnyi) trophies. Zimonjic made his season finale debut in 2005 and reached the final (w/Paes).

Dodig and Melo, who went 3-0 in round robin play last year prior to losing to eventual champions David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco, are now 28-19 on the season. Should they clinch the title this week, it would be their first team trophy of the year.

Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo have qualified for the semi-finals at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals on Tuesday after they clinched their second Group B win at The O2 in London.

Seventh seeds Dodig and Melo won a dramatic encounter against sixth seeds Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez, the 2012 champions, 7-6(5), 7-6(12) in one hour and 56 minutes.

The Croatian-Brazilian tandem, who beat two-time former titlists Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic on Sunday, qualified as a result of their victory in straight sets and also Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin beat Nestor and Zimonjic in three sets early today.

Melo came under pressure in the third game, but saved two break points. Dodig and Melo then combined to break Lopez’s serve on a deciding point deuce, when Dodig hit a fortuitous winner and soon opened up a 4-1 lead. Granollers and Lopez dug in, winning three straight games. In the tie-break, of the 55-minute set, Dodig and Melo recovered from a 2-5 deficit by winning five straight points.

The second set was no less dramatic. Dodig and Lopez each dropped their serves mid-set, prior to a 16-point Match tie-break, which became a battle of who kept their nerve. Granollers and Lopez squandered set point opportunities at 7/6, 9/8 and 10/9, while Dodig and Melo failed to convert match point chances at 6/5, 8/7, and 12/11.

Dodig and Melo, the only team at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals yet to lift a doubles trophy in 2014, become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals. They are now 28-19 on the season, which includes runner-up finishes at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters (l. to Bryans), the Rogers Cup in Toronto (l. to Peya-Soares) and also the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo (l. to Herbert-Przysiezny).

Granollers and Lopez, who beat Benneteau and Roger-Vasselin 6-4, 6-4 in their first round-robin match on Sunday, drop to a 29-17 team record in 2014. The duo finished runner-up at both Roland Garros (l. to Benneteau-Roger-Vasselin) and the US Open (l. to Bryans).

Dodig/Melo Emerge From The Brink For First Grand Slam Title

Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo rallied from the brink to upset two-time champions and top seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 7-5 in the Roland Garros final on Saturday.

Dodig and Melo captured their first Grand Slam title as a team, having previously finished runner-up to the Bryans in the 2013 Wimbledon final. They exacted revenge on the American twins after also falling in the 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals title match, overcoming a set and a break deficit.

Both teams remained on serve in the third set until 5-5, when Melo's quick hands at the net gave them the decisive break. A Dodig lunging forehand winner would hand them their first championship point a game later, which they converted after two hours and 15 minutes.

"It was a great atmosphere," said Melo during the on-court ceremony. "We thought we could do big things when we got together four years ago and our faith paid off. It wasn't easy playing with Guga there in the stands, but thank you for coming to support us."

"Thank you to all the people who came to watch a great match," added Dodig. "We will continue to play many more tournaments."

The Brazilian-Croatian tandem won their third tour-level title together. They also triumphed at the 2013 Shanghai Rolex Masters and 2015 Abierto Mexicano Telcel. With Gustavo Kuerten in the crowd, Melo became the first Brazilian champion at Roland Garros since 2001, when "Guga" won the men’s singles title.

The Bryans, meanwhile, were bidding to claim an Open Era record third Roland Garros team title and an unprecedented 17th overall at the Grand Slam level.

"Congratulations to Ivan and Marcelo," said Bob. "It was a great match today. They're good friends of ours and it's good for the game. Got to thank the crowd for sticking around, it was a great atmosphere. Lastly, we'd like to thank our team. It's great having my wife and the kids on the road."

Trophee des Alpilles (Saint-Remy, France): Fifth seed Ivan Dodig needed one hour and 15 minutes to dispatch Nils Langer in the Trophee des Alpilles final. The former singles World No. 29 claimed his first ATP Challenger Tour title in five years and third overall. The Croat’s triumph ends a run of four straight years of a Frenchman hoisting the trophy on home soil. Dodig rises to a projected World No. 105 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, having fallen out of the Top 100 for the first time in three years in mid-April.

Following a semi-final run in 2013 and final finish last year, Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo are looking to go one step further as they seek to cap their 2015 campaign in tremendous fashion at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.

Runners-up to Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan in the 2014 title match at the season finale, the Croat and the Brazilian are hungry to continue soaring.

"This is our best season," Dodig said. "We had some goals together which we achieved and I'm very happy to see Marcelo beat the Bryans [for No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Doubles Rankings] after many years. This is a tournament we will try to enjoy and finish in the best possible way. We had the experience in the last two years so it's going to be good for us."

In addition to Melo usurping the Bryans as the top individual doubles player in the world, the Croatian-Brazilian tandem are looking to dethrone the American twins as the year-end No. 1 team. Four teams, including Jean-Julien Rojer & Horia Tecau and Jamie Murray & John Peers, are in contention, making this year's battle for the top spot one of the closest in history.

"This is a tournament we play well at," added Melo. "It's the third time we are coming here. We are in great shape after winning Paris. I hope we are going to continue the same way and finish the year as the No. 1 team."

Dodig and Melo claimed their maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros and enjoyed further success in the French capital to close out the regular season, taking home the BNP Paribas Masters crown. A title run in Acapulco also helped confirm their place among the elite eight at The O2 in London.

Dodig attributes their strong partnership to possessing different strengths between the lines and developing a bond away from the court.

"We are different players. We have different approaches on the court. In doubles, in my opinion, that's very important. Marcelo is a great player at the net, which helps a lot. I have a lot of other stuff I'm taking from my singles play. If you combine all this, we're a good team. We're great friends first of all."

The tandem find themselves in Group Fleming/McEnroe alongside Rojer/Tecau, Herbert/Mahut and Matkowski/Zimonjic, with play commencing on Monday.
