Kozacko wtedy pograł Roger, najpierw zniszczył Djokovicia, później z Nadalem miał bodajże kilkanaście winnerów w swoich 4 pierwszych gemach serwisowych. Przełamanie na 5-3 to też 2 boskie punkty. Przy bodajże 3-2* i 0-15* rozegrali jedną z bardziej charakterystycznych wymian dla tej rywalizacji (może nie tak często powtarzana jak ta z 5 seta AO17, ale też o podobnym przebiegu - zmiana przewag sytuacyjnych, a na koniec znakomity winner).
14 winnerów w 1 secie jak podają statystyki. Ogólnie w całym meczu 32 zagrania kończące u Rogera. Rafa łącznie miał 11 winnerów - masakryczna przewaga Szwajcara. Zasadniczo na szybszych kortach Fed zagrywa od 1.5 do maks 2 razy więcej zagrań kończących niż Nadal, a w 2010 to było aż trzy razy więcej.

Rafael Nadal moves ahead of Roger Federer on ultimate ranking record

After dealing with injuries in 2003 and 2004, Rafael Nadal was ready to show his full potential in 2005. The Spanish teenager claimed 11 ATP titles, including the first Major crown at Roland Garros and four Masters 1000 events, finishing as the second-youngest year-end top-2 player after Boris Becker.
For the next six seasons, Nadal would end in the top-2 every year, becoming the year-end no. 1 player in 2008 and 2010 and trailing to Federer and Djokovic in other seasons. At 25, Nadal left Pete Sampras, Ivan Lendl and John McEnroe behind him on six year-end top-2 finishes, securing the eighth honor in 2013.
The Spaniard had to wait for a couple of years to extend his run, struggling with injuries in the following three seasons and returning to the top in 2017 after an incredible season that saw him winning two Majors. Once he returned to the top-2 that year, Nadal is yet to leave the elite group, securing three more year-end top-2 awards to become the record holder with 12, moving ahead of Roger Federer, who stayed on 11.

To highlight the achievement, we should know that only ten players have managed to finish the year in the top-2 at least four times, with Nadal having streaks of seven and four! Rafa kicked off the season as the world's leading player, defending Spain's colors at the ATP Cup.
He lost two matches against David Goffin and Novak Djokovic in the final, allowing Novak to reduce the deficit at the top and remain on Nadal's trail in Melbourne. At the Australian Open, Rafa lost to Dominic Thiem in the quarters, missing his chances and falling in four tight sets.
The Spaniard traveled to Kuwait and Cape Town for exhibition matches against David Ferrer and Roger Federer, returning to the official duties in Acapulco and winning the 85th ATP title. Instead of Indian Wells and Miami, Rafa left home when the coronavirus pandemic plagued the season, staying away from the court in March and April and returning to it in May.
Rafael Nadal is the first player with 12 year-end top-2 finishes.
Not fancying New York conditions and hard court after such a long break, Nadal decided to skip the Cincinnati Masters 1000 event and the US Open, remaining on clay and making a comeback at the Masters 1000 event in Rome in September.
Rafa lost the crown in the quarter-final clash against Diego Schwartzman, heading to Roland Garros with three matches in his legs in seven months! It was Rafa's last opportunity to secure a Major trophy in 2020, facing unusual conditions like never before in the French capital!
Despite cold and rainy weather, the new Wilson balls and a roof above Court Philippe-Chatrier, the king of clay proved his greatness, securing the 13th Roland Garros crown without losing a set and catching Roger Federer's 20 Major trophies.
In the title match, Nadal defeated world no. 1 Novak Djokovic 6-0, 6-2, 7-5, playing on a high level from start to finish in one of the most important encounters of the century and earning a massive record at 34. Rafa returned to Paris for the Masters 1000 event a few weeks later, suffering the semi-final loss to Alexander Zverev and passing the round-robin stage at the ATP Finals.
Nadal served for the victory against Daniil Medvedev in London before suffering a 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 defeat to finish the season and take a well-deserved vacation. The Spaniard is back on the court, starting the pre-season preparations and hoping to get back at 100% ahead of the Australian Open in February.

Rafael Nadal says he has no idea when Roger Federer will retire but he hopes he carries on for a while – as long as he wins no more Grand Slams!
Nadal and Federer are currently tied with 20 Grand Slam titles apiece, although Nadal appears to have a lot more left in the tank than 39-year-old Federer.
Federer himself fuelled retirement rumours this week when he appeared to cast doubt over his future whilst accepting a Sports award in Switzerland.
“I hope there is still something to see from me next year,” Federer said said. “But if that was it, that would have been an incredible ending for me at these Sports Awards.
“I’m still giving myself time to decide,” Federer explained. ” I also know that the next three months are going to be crucial for me.”
Nadal, though, is refusing to speculate, but he thinks tennis is a better product with Federer on the court.
“I don’t know how long he is going to keep on going,” Nadal said of Federer.
“I think it’s great if you ask me if I’d rather be the one to win the Grand Slam [race], yeah I would.
“I think it’s also good for tennis that Federer comes back with a fighting spirit, and we have this rivalry.
“I think that this makes this sport much larger, looking at it from a global point of view, not from my personal point of view.
“I think it’s entertaining and good for our sport.”

39-letni Roger Federer i 34-letni Rafael Nadal to dwóch najbardziej utytułowanych tenisistów w historii. Obaj jednak zbliżają się do zakończenia wyjątkowych karier. W związku z tym pojawiają się pytania, czy po ich odejściu tenis wciąż będzie przyciągał tak ogromną liczbę kibiców. Ivan Ljubicić uważa, że przyszłość dyscypliny w erze po Szwajcarze i Hiszpanie nie maluje się w czarnych barwach.
- Zastąpienie Federera i Nadala będzie bardzo trudne, ale nie sądzę, że tenis jako sport jest zagrożony. Myślano tak, gdy odchodzili Borg i McEnroe, potem Sampras i Agassi, ale pojawiali się następcy. Być może ci, którzy będą po nich wygrywać, nie będą mieli tego samego uroku i charyzmy, ale z czasem wypełnią lukę - mówił trener Federera w wywiadzie dla "Tennis Magazine Italia".
Federer i Nadal zdobyli po 20 tytułów wielkoszlemowych. Chorwat nie chciał jednak ocenić, kto z tej dwójki jest lepszy. - Moim zdaniem nie ma jednoznacznej odpowiedzi. Nie jestem przekonany, że ten, kto odnosi największe sukcesy, automatycznie staje się tym największym. Albo że należy wymienić tylko jedno nazwisko.
- Nie ma wątpliwości, że turnieje wielkoszlemowe są najważniejsze - kontynuował. - Liczba tytułów w Wielkim Szlemie jest uczciwą miarą tenisisty. Ale tak jest od 15-20 lat, w przeszłości ich znaczenie nie było tak duże. Australian Open był mniej warty niż Monte Carlo czy Rzym. Porównując Lavera, McEnroe'a i Borga z współczesnymi zawodnikami, stwierdzenie, że liczą się jedynie wielkoszlemowe triumfy, nie wydaje mi się rozsądne.
Ljubicić jest zdania, że pojawienie się Szwajcara i Hiszpana było kołem zamachowym dla tenisa. - W sporcie istnieje pojęcie "dziedzictwo". Roger i Rafa zostawili ważny ślad w historii tenisa. Roger to nie tylko jego zwycięstwa, ale także to, jak gra, jak się zachowuje, jak żyje i co znaczy dla kibiców. Ta ich niesamowita rywalizacja i sukcesy są czymś wyjątkowym - ocenił.
- Oni zmienili sport. To, co widzimy teraz w tenisie, jest wynikiem tego, co robią od 2005 roku. W pewnym sensie to oni stworzyli Djokovicia, który musiał znaleźć sposób, by stawić im czoła. A także tych, którzy pojawili się później, bo musieli nabyć odpowiednich umiejętności, wiedząc, że mają do czynienia z dwiema takimi postaciami - dodał.
Ljubicić uważa, że po zakończeniu karier Szwajcar i Hiszpan pozostaną przy tenisie. - Obaj są zakochani w tenisie i nie znikną z tego sportu, gdy przestaną grać. Nadal ma swoją akademię, a Roger agencję menedżerską i stworzył Laver Cup - stwierdził.
