#NextGenATP prospect Karen Khachanov has soared 14 places in the Emirates ATP Rankings to a career-high World No. 42, courtesy of a quarter-final showing at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell.
The 20 year-old, who trains in Barcelona, ousted 11th seed Pablo Cuevas before a first Top 10 victory over David Goffin sent Khachanov into the last eight (l. Zeballos). As a result, the Russian jumps seven positions to eighth in the Emirates ATP Race to Milan for the inaugural #NextGenATP Finals in November.

A run to the Gazprom Hungarian Open final (l. Pouille) has boosted Aljaz Bedene’s ranking by 10 places to World No. 58. The British No. 4 finished April with a 16-1 match record, following back-to-back ATP Challenger Tour titles along with his six-win streak through qualifying and the main draw in Budapest.
Horacio Zeballos has earned a 21-place rise to World No. 63, having reached his first ATP World Tour semi-final since 2013, when he won the Vina del Mar title. The Argentine defeated Joao Sousa, Benoit Paire and Khachanov in Barcelona, before falling to eventual champion Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals. Zeballos was World No. 84 last week and became the lowest-ranked semi-finalist in Barcelona since No. 85 German Denis Gremelmayr in 2008 (l. to Nadal).

A career-high ranking of World No. 73 is Yuichi Sugita’s reward for a first ATP quarter-final in five years. The Japanese rises 18 spots, having navigated through qualifying, to then post victories over Richard Gasquet and Pablo Carreno Busta, before finalist Dominic Thiem ended the charge.
#NextGenATP player Hyeon Chung also qualified for the Barcelona main draw and advanced to the quarter-finals (l.Nadal). Wins against Germans Philipp Kohlschreiber and Alexander Zverev helped Chung move up 16 positons to World No.78.

Pablo Carreno Busta commanded the field at the Millennium Estoril Open to move up three positions in the Emirates ATP Rankings to a career-high No. 18. The Spaniard secured his first ATP World Tour title on clay with a 6-2, 7-6(5) victory over third seed Gilles Muller. Carreno Busta, also runner-up this February in Rio de Janeiro (l. In Istanbul, Marin Cilic tasted victory on clay for the first time in five years to jump one place to No. 7. A 7-6(3), 6-3 triumph over Milos Raonic earned him the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open title. The Croatian navigated past Top 50 players Steve Darcis and Diego Schwartzman en route to the trophy. #NextGenATP player Alexander Zverev cemented his place in the Top 20 with his first ATP World Tour title on home soil. The German moves one place to No. 19 after winning 10 of the last 13 games to defeat Guido Pella 6-4, 6-3 in the BMW Open by FWU final.
Zverev’s Munich success also extends his lead in the Emirates ATP Race To Milan, which will determine seven of the eight 21-and-under players who compete at the inaugural Next Gen ATP Finals. Zverev currently leads the Race by 515 points. Read Munich Final Report

A first clay-court final for Gilles Muller in Estoril sends the Luxembourg native up two spots to a career-high ranking of No. 26. The 33 year old is enjoying his best year on tour, clinching his first ATP World Tour title in Sydney in January.
Kevin Anderson reached a maiden semi-final of the season in Estoril. He was edged by Muller 7-5, 6-4, but still earned a nine-position rise to World No. 57.
#NextGenATP South Korean Hyeon Chung is building up momentum on the clay. He qualified for the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell main draw and advanced to the quarter-finals (l. Nadal), before victories over Martin Klizan and Gael Monfils sent Chung into the Munich final four (l. Pella). As a reward the 20 year old earns a 12-place rise to World No. 66. He is also No. 3 in the Emirates ATP Race To Milan for one of eight places at the 21-and-under Next Gen ATP Finals from 7-11 November.
Similarly, Taro Daniel also qualified for the Barcelona main draw. That form continued this week and he returns to the Top 100 at No. 98, courtesy of a 15-place rise. Wins against Renzo Olivo and Bjorn Fratangelo earned an Estoril quarter-final, before eventual finalist Muller halted his run in a battling three-set contest.
Nicolas Almagro’s quarter-final showing in Estoril (l. Carreno Busta) has earned a 10-spot rise to No. 76, while Adam Pavlasek rises 11 places to No. 95 due to a semi-final showing (l. Travaglia) in the Ostrava ATP Challenger Tour event.
