1) A star-studded lineup featuring 12 of the Top 20 players in the Emirates ATP Rankings takes the court Wednesday for R32 action at the Coupe Rogers in Montreal.
2) No. 1 seed Rafael Nadal begins his quest to regain the World No. 1 ranking on Wednesday evening as he faces #NextGenATP star Borna Coric, who has taken two of three meetings from the Spaniard on the ATP World Tour. The 20-year-old Croatian defeated Nadal in the QF at Basel in 2014 before Nadal leveled the Head2Head with a four-set win in the 1R of the 2015 U.S. Open. Coric took their most recent meeting in the R16 at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Cincinnati in 2016. Nadal will retake No. 1 from Andy Murray in the Emirates ATP Rankings if he reaches the semi-finals, which would be his first time atop the rankings since July 6, 2014. A winner of four ATP World Tour titles this year, including his 10th French Open crown, Nadal has won three titles here (2005, d. Agassi; 2008, d. Kiefer; and 2013, d. Raonic) and is tied with Novak Djokovic all-time with 30 ATP Masters 1000 titles. Coric set up his matchup with Nadal by defeating lucky loser Mikhail Youzhny on Tuesday, snapping a three-match losing streak. He won his first ATP World Tour title at Marrakech (d. Kohlschreiber) and earned the biggest win of his career over Murray to reach the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid QF as a lucky loser (l. to Thiem).
3) One day after celebrating his 36th birthday, No. 2 seed Roger Federer takes the court for the first time since extending his all-time record with his 19th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon (d. Cilic) when he faces Canadian wild card Peter Polansky to kick off afternoon play on Center Court. This will be the second time in four years that the two have faced off here in the R32, with Federer winning, 6-2, 6-0, in 2014. Federer is a two-time champion here (2004, d. Roddick; 2006, d. Gasquet), but has not competed here since losing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the 2014 Toronto final. This is Federer's first match in Montreal since falling to Tsonga in the 2011 third round. Polansky, ranked No. 116 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, won an all-Canadian matchup with Vasek Pospisil, 7-5, 6-2, on Monday to earn his R32 matchup with Federer. The 29-year-old recorded his first ATP World Tour match win of 2017 last week in Los Cabos (d. Uchiyama in R32, l. to eventual finalist Kokkinakis in R16).
4) Juan Martin del Potro will follow on Center Court when he meets another Canadian wild card, Denis Shapovalov, for the first time on the ATP World Tour. On Monday, del Potro halted No. 14 seed John Isner's eight-match winning streak to improve to 11-0 in first-round matches this season. The Argentine reached the final here in 2009 (l. to Murray) and is 7-5 lifetime. Shapovalov defeated Rogerio Dutra Silva in the first round on Tuesday to record his first match win on hard-courts in 2017 (1-3). The former junior World No. 1 reached the R16 at London/Queen's Club, defeating Kyle Edmund in the R32 before losing to Tomas Berdych in the R16.
5) Canadian No. 1 Milos Raonic caps off the evening session on Center Court when he faces Frenchman Adrian Mannarino for the second time on the ATP World Tour. Raonic won their previous meeting in the 2R of the 2016 French Open. The World No. 10 is 10-7 lifetime in his homeland tournament, reaching the final in 2013 (l. to Nadal) and the QF in 2014 (l. to Lopez) and 2016 (l. to Monfils). He is seeking his first ATP World Tour title since 2016 Brisbane (d. Federer), a stretch of 30 events and 19+ months. Raonic kicked off his summer hard-court campaign by reaching the QF last week in Washington (l. to Sock). Mannarino defeating Daniil Medvedev on Monday for his first match win at this tournament. The 29-year-old Frenchman reached the final at Antalya (l. to Sugita) and is coming off a QF showing last week in Los Cabos (l. to Berdych).
6) No. 5 seed Kei Nishikori, last year's runner-up (l. to Djokovic) commences afternoon play on Banque Nationale Court when he faces Gael Monfils for a spot in the R16. Nishikori has won all three meetings with Monfils, including 2-0 on hard-courts. The Japanese star won their QF matchup at the 2016 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Miami and followed that up with a QF win at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. Nishikori, seeking his first ATP World Tour title since 2016 Memphis, is 9-4 lifetime here, reaching the SF in 2015 (d. Nadal in QF, l. to Murray in SF) before his run to the final last year (d. Dimitrov in QF, Wawrinka in SF before l. to Djokovic). He reached the SF last week in Washington (l. to eventual champion A. Zverev). Monfils reached the semi-finals here last year (d. Raonic in QF, l. to Djokovic in SF) and is 12-7 lifetime. The Frenchman is looking to bounce back from a R32 loss to World No. 200 Yuki Bhambri last week in Washington.
7) Grigor Dimitrov, the No. 7 seed, follows on Banque Nationale Court when he takes on Mischa Zverev for the second time this year. Dimitrov prevailed in three sets in their R32 encounter in Rotterdam. Dimitrov advanced to the quarter-finals here in 2016 (l. to Nishikori) and the semi-finals in 2014 (l. to Tsonga). The Bulgarian captured his 5th and 6th ATP World Tour titles respectively at Brisbane (d. Thiem, Raonic and Nishikori) and Sofia (d. Goffin) and is coming off a R16 performance last week in Washington (l. to Medvedev). Zverev got past Slovakian qualifier Norbert Gombos in three sets on Monday to reach the R32 here for the first time. The 29-year-old German reached the final in Geneva (l. to Wawrinka) and the SF at Stuttgart (l. to Lopez) earlier this year.
Zverev's younger brother, Alexander, is next up on Banque Nationale Court when he takes on two-time finalist Richard Gasquet for the third time this year. Zverev, the No. 4 seed, defeated Gasquet in the Montpellier final on hard-court and needed three sets to get past the Frenchman in the SF at Halle on grass. On Sunday, Zverev captured his fourth ATP World Tour title of the year, and fifth of his career, in Washington (d. Anderson), becoming only the 10th player under the age of 21 to win four or more ATP World Tour titles in one season since 1992. Gasquet reached the final here in 2006 (d. Murray in SF, l. to Federer in F) and 2012 (d. Isner in SF, l. to Djokovic) and is 20-8 lifetime.

9) Red-hot American Sam Querrey takes on No. 8 seed and 2014 champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga under the lights at Banque Nationale Court. Tsonga holds the edge in their FedEx ATP Head2Head, 4-2, but Querrey won their most recent meeting at Wimbledon in the R32 in five sets. Querrey continued his torrid play of late by holding off French qualifier Vincent Millot in three sets on Tuesday. The American captured his second ATP World Tour title of 2017 in Los Cabos (d. Kokkinakis), and as a result, climbed into the Top 20 in the Emirates ATP Rankings for the first time since July 2013 (at No. 20). He has won 10 of his past 11 matches, losing only to Marin Cilic in the Wimbledon SF. Tsonga won the 2014 title here (d. Djokovic, Murray, Dimitrov and Federer) and is 16-4 lifetime, also reaching the SF in 2009 (l. to Murray) and 2011 (l. to Djokovic). He has won three titles in 2017 - Rotterdam (d. Goffin), Marseille (d. Pouille) and Lyon (d. Berdych).
10) No. 9 seed David Goffin of Belgium rounds out the night session when he faces #NextGenATP star Hyeon Chung for the second time on the ATP World Tour. Goffin won their R32 encounter at Marseille on hard-court in 2016. Goffin rallied past Japan's Yuichi Sugita in three sets on Tuesday and is looking to reach the R16 here for the third straight year (2015, d. Querrey, l. to Nishikori; 2016, d. Querrey, l. to Monfils). The 21-year-old Chung eliminated 2014 semi-finalist Feliciano Lopez on Tuesday to move into the R32 for the first time here.
