- To przedmiot do dyskusji. Chciałbym, aby ludzie przemyśleli jeszcze sprawę punktów rankingowych - odpowiada Djoković.

Serb w swojej karierze ma jeden medal olimpijski w kolekcji. W Pekinie zdobył brąz, w Londynie zajął czwarte miejsce.

Novak Djokovic rates winning gold at the Olympic Games at the same level of importance as winning Grand Slams, and has also said that whether or not to award ranking points should be a "subject for discussion".
Speaking at the French Open – which, along with the Olympics, is one of the major titles that Djokovic has never won – the world No. 1 said that his Olympic experiences had been extremely positive.
"Being part of the Olympic Games … it’s a wonderful, wonderful feeling," he explained, "being there with all the best athletes from around the world, being part of that Olympic village, representing your country, sharing the experiences with everybody."
The Serb added that the fact that players may only compete in a handful of Olympics made them all the more important.
"It’s quite different to be honest," he continued, "and it’s so special because it happens every four years."
Djokovic won a bronze medal at the 2008 Games in Beijing and was beaten in the bronze medal match by Juan Martin del Potro in London in 2012. On both occasions, Djokovic was beaten in the semifinals by the players who would go on to become gold medallists: Rafael Nadal in 2008 and Andy Murray in 2012.
The Serb also said that he "didn’t see any reason" why ranking points shouldn’t be awarded at the Games.
Roland Garros marks an important stage for those players hoping to qualify for the Olympics, with the ranking list from Monday 6 June, the day after the tournament ends, being used to determine the entry lists.

While the Zika virus and family concerns have notably deterred some of golf's best players from going to the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, some of tennis' elite aren't put off.

Defending men's champion Andy Murray said at Wimbledon on Saturday, "My plan is still to play."

Roger Federer was also full steam ahead: "I'll put mosquito spray on my body and take the precautions I have to," said Federer, who was the runner-up to Murray in the London Games four years ago and a doubles gold medalist in the 2008 Beijing Games.

"I'm not afraid of Zika," said Petra Kvitova, the two-time Wimbledon champ from the Czech Republic. "I will definitely go there."

Rafael Nadal headlined the Rio Open in February and has said he will go to the Olympics if he's fit.

Then there was French Open champion Garbine Muguruza, who was blissfully ignorant.

"I don't really know what is Zika," she said. But the Spaniard was sure the Olympics would not proceed if the virus posed a serious threat.

The mosquito-borne disease has been linked to severe birth defects in infants born to infected women and to possible neurological problems in adults, but for Kvitova, the Olympics outweigh the risks.

She said she receives updates from a doctor with the Czech Olympic team, though she admits she doesn't read them all. But there was no way she was missing the games. "For me," she said, "it's like another Grand Slam."

Federer, the father of four kids, respected the choices made by the likes of golfers Rory McIlroy and Charl Schwartzel to skip the Rio Games because of the virus. Other absentees, such as Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuizen and Graeme McDowell, did not cite Zika.

"I have never reconsidered my decision," Federer said at Wimbledon. "I know I will play. I will try everything I can to be there. For me, it's always been a big deal, the Olympics, regardless of [tournament] points or not, or where it is."

Murray, who had his first child in February, has always been positive about going to Rio, but has always sought the latest medical advice.

"The doctor in British tennis, who has been working there for 35-40 years, he thinks [Rio is] pretty safe and we should be OK," Murray said. "When I'm done here [at Wimbledon], I'll have another chat to make sure."
