Formuła Pucharu Davisa już dawno się wypaliła, a te rozciągnięte terminy to już zupełny anachronizm. Zmiany są prędzej czy później nieuniknione i nie ma co wylewać łez w obronie tradycji, bo tradycji trzeba bronić tam, gdzie ona ma sens.
Stworzenie Drużynowych Mistrzostw Świata brzmi sensownie, bo po pierwsze byłaby szansa na przyciągnięcie najlepszych, a po drugie w końcu przestałoby się grać praktycznie jednym zawodnikiem jak niektórzy i te rozgrywki lepiej odzwierciedlałyby siłę reprezentacji.
Ale w tych DMŚ jak rozumiem część drużyny miałyby stanowić panie. Bo nie ma innej opcji żeby nie grać jednym zawodnikiem. Wtedy można by grać mecze singiel M/singiel W/debel M do 2 pkt. Przy takim rozwiązaniu 1 mecz rozegra się w 1 dzień czyli można na taki turniej przeznaczyć tydzień i po 7 dniach mamy zwycięzcę a nie męczyć Tygodnie Poszlemowe, którę stanowią czas ''świętej regeneracji'' dla czołówki
World No. 5 claims both his singles rubbers to help Germany advance

Alexander Zverev guided Germany into the quarter-finals of the 2018 Davis Cup with a commanding 6-2, 7-6(3), 6-2 victory over Australian Nick Kyrgios Sunday in Brisbane.
Zverev was close to untouchable on serve, firing 15 aces, putting 71 per cent of first serves into play and winning 80 per cent of first-serve points. He also fought off all four break points he faced, while breaking Kyrgios four times. Kyrgios had won three of their four career FedEx ATP Head2Head meetings coming to the tie, including when they last met in the China Open semi-finals last year.
A frustrated Kyrgios was given a point penalty in the tie-break for smashing his racquet and was unable to pressure the World No. 5 in the third set. Zverev broke for a second time in the set in the final game of the match to secure the 3-1 victory for the Germans, who won Saturday's pivotal doubles rubber in five sets.
It was a very different victory for Zverev, who on the opening day needed a fifth-set tie-break to beat 18-year-old Davis Cup debutant Alex de Minaur.
"It's awesome, it's an amazing feeling," Zverev said on court after steering Germany to the quarter-finals for the first time in three years. "We're super happy, but hopefully this is just the beginning for us."
Germany will next play the winner of Great Britain and Spain.
Italy secured its place in the Davis Cup World Group quarter-finals for the fifth time in six years after Fabio Fognini saved match point and came from 1-4 down in the fifth set to beat Japan’s Yuichi Sugita 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(6), 7-5.
Having already played nine sets of tennis in the first two days of the tie, Fognini returned to the court in Morioka, playing for over four hours, to end the epic tie. The Italian was involved in all three of Italy’s successful rubbers over the weekend to dash Japan’s hopes of reaching the quarter-finals for the first time since 2014.
Italy will host the winner of the tie between defending champion France and the Netherlands in April’s quarter-finals.

Jakie panie jak jest to pomysł ATP?
24 drużyny w 10 dni turnieju to dużo meczów, więc trzeba będzie szukać szerokiej i mocnej kadry, a żeby te rozgrywki były atrakcyjne, a przede wszystkim pokazywały reprezentatywną siłę danego państwa, powinna zostać wprowadzona reguła gry jednego tenisisty tylko w jednym meczu. Dzisiaj jeden tenisista może zagrać nawet w trzech z pięciu meczów w jednym starciu pomiędzy drużynami i tak jeden tenisista może wygrać puchar jak Murray dla Wielkiej Brytanii albo dojść do dwóch finałów jak Belgia. Taką możliwość wprowadzono kiedyś, bo inaczej wiele reprezentacji nie skompletowałoby drużyny. Teraz są trochę inne czasy.
Pytanie oczywiście czy nawet taka formuła rozgrywek wystarczy, żeby przyciągnąć najlepszych. Ja myślę, że tak, bo wystarczy dać zwycięzcom tyle punktów co za Szlema (dla pięcioosobowej ekipy 2000 punktów albo powiedzmy 2500, żeby było po 500 na głowę), ale nie dawałbym żadnych nagród pieniężnych - od tego są krajowe federacje, a na Drużynowych Mistrzostwach Świata gra się dla kraju, fanów, przechodniego pucharu, a nie dla milionów baksów nagrody.
Kolejny argument jest taki, że taka impreza w jednym miejscu i w jednym czasie (gospodarzami mogą być na przemian Australia i Azja) zamiast rozpiętych terminów od lutego do późnego listopada w mocno wypełnionym kalendarzu przyciągnęłaby widzów i sponsorów i byłaby wydarzeniem. W obecnym kształcie Puchar Davisa się rozmywa, stracił rangę i jest do bani już od lat.

Dobrze wiedzieć, że Kukuszkin jeszcze gra na poważnie w tenisa. Szkoda, że Bublik się nie łapie.

Chodziło mi o to że takie DMŚ zamiast jednocześnie zamiast DC jak i FC. Ale wtedy pieczę nad tym musiał by przejąć ITF. 24 reprezentacje i udało by się myślę spokojnie w 7 dni. Szkoda że takie coś nie będzie miało miejsca

Ufff, Polacy w decydującej grze pokonali Słoweńców i awansowali do 2 rundy w II grupie strefy Euroafrykańskiej. Najlepiej zaprezentował się moim zdaniem Mateusz Kowalczyk, dzięki któremu w głównej mierze wygraliśmy debla.
Teraz w kwietniu Zimbabwe, więc wypadałoby wygrać.

Adrian Mannarino banished the disappointment of his loss on Friday to beat Robin Haase in a five-set marathon 4-6, 7-6(5), 7-5, 6-7(2), 7-5 and book France’s spot in the quarter-finals of Davis Cup World Group play, in which the defending champion will play Italy.
Mannarino arrived late to the tie — he was in Malta on Thursday — after both Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Lucas Pouille were forced to the sidelines with injury. But Mannarino found his footing and earned his first Davis Cup triumph in dramatic fashion to secure France's place in the last eight.
France and Italy have met on 10 previous occasions, with both nations winning five ties. But Italy, which will host the tie, has a formidable home record, winning 15 of its past 18 clashes on home soil.
BELGIUM 3, HUNGARY 1

Belgium will travel to the United States in April for a meeting in the quarter-finals after 2017 Nitto ATP Finals runner-up David Goffin beat Hungarian No. 1 Marton Fucsovics 7-5, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 to clinch his nation's 3-1 win in this weekend's opening-round tie.
Goffin broke Fucsovics — who reached the fourth round of the Australian Open last month — on six occasions to secure his 18th win in his past 19 singles rubbers. Belgium now moves into its third Davis Cup quarter-final in four years, after reaching the final in both 2015 and 2017.
Belgium has yet to defeat the United States, with the Americans holding a 4-0 head-to-head lead against their European foes. The United States secured its place in the final eight after sweeping the first three rubbers against Serbia.
The 2005 Davis Cup winner, Croatia, secured a home quarter-final meeting against Kazakhstan after Borna Coric defeated Denis Shapovalov 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in Osijek, Croatia, to clinch a 3-1 victory for his country in its opening-round tie against Canada.
The 2017 Next Gen ATP Finals semi-finalist looked confident on serve throughout the match, winning 78 per cent of points behind his first delivery and holding all 15 of his service games while facing just one break point. Coric was delighted to win against a tough opponent — Shapovalov also qualified for the inaugural Next Gen ATP Finals — in front of his home crowd.
“It's the most unbelievable feeling in the world,” Coric told DavisCup.com. “I was playing well for the whole match. Maybe there were some nerves, but as soon as I broke him in the first game, I felt good.”
Croatia and Kazakhstan have never met in Davis Cup play. Croatia will attempt to reach the semi-finals for the second time in three years while Kazakhstan will seek its maiden final four appearance after losing in the quarter-finals four times previously.

Serbia and the United States returned on Sunday to play one dead rubber — Serbia’s Pedja Krstin defeated Steve Johnson 6-1, 7-5.
The United States secured its place in the Davis Cup World Group quarter-finals after winning the opening three rubbers of the tie, on Friday and Saturday, and will host Belgium for a place in the semi-finals. The United States has won all four of its previous ties against Belgium.
