Cóż, szkoda Cedrika, bo chłopak naprawdę ma grę na dobre wyniki. Ale pierwsze koty za płoty, cenne doświadczenie zebrane, które musi potem zaprocentować. Wielkim szczęściem Lleytona było to, że trafił na młodego, niedoświadczonego grajka, bo w innym wypadku byłoby 5 setów i prawdopodobnie wylot z turnieju. Stebe widziałem po raz pierwszy i trzeba przyznać, że ma chłopak papiery na grę i niedługo powinno być o nim głośno. Australian Open. Wilander w szpitalu po zasłabnięciu


47-letni Mats Wilander, były szwedzki tenisista, a obecnie dziennikarz i komentator telewizyjny, trafił do szpitala w Melbourne po zasłabnięciu podczas wielkoszlemowego turnieju Australian Open (z pulą nagród 26 mln dol. austral.).

Lekarze stwierdzili zaburzenia pracy jednej nerki - poinformowała jego firma Wheels na Facebooku.

Wilander zasłabł w niedzielę w swoim apartamencie wynajętym w Melbourne. Został przewieziony do szpitala i nie wiadomo kiedy zostanie wypisany.

Podczas turniejów wielkoszlemowych Szwed prowadzi w stacji telewizyjnej Eurosport program "Gem, Set, Mats", w którym widzom przybliżane są kulisy dużych turniejów, najważniejsze wydarzenia dnia oraz przeprowadzane są wywiady z tenisistami.

Wilander w latach 80. i 90. wygrał 33 turnieje w singlu i siedem w deblu, został liderem rankingu ATP World Tour we wrześniu 1988 roku, zarobił 7 976 256 dolarów, a bilans jego meczów wyniósł 571-222.

W Wielkim Szlemie triumfował siedmiokrotnie, w tym trzy razy w Australian Open (1983-84 i 1988). Również trzy zwycięstwa odniósł na paryskich kortach ziemnych im. Rolanda Garrosa (1982, 1985, 1988), a także jedno w nowojorskim US Open (1988). Nie udało mu się tylko wygrać na trawie w Wimbledonie, gdzie trzykrotnie dochodził do ćwierćfinału (1987-1989).

Novak Djokovic felt the high temperatures
in Melbourne on Tuesday.

THE HEAT IS ON
For the second day running, temperatures soared above 30 degrees Celsius. Defending champion Novak Djokovic, who beat Paolo Lorenzi, admitted, "[The] last 10 days or so since I arrived in Melbourne [it] was quite cold outside, and very windy. Today was I think around 35 degrees, so it took a bit of time to get used to the heat. But I'm quite happy physically the way I'm handling the heat."

Scotland's Andy Murray confirmed, "It's very different conditions what we've been practicing in. The court plays different. I mean, it was incredibly hot today. Balls bouncing up very high. Obviously training in hot temperatures helps because you're used to it, but also for the last couple of weeks it's been very different. Today was a bit of a shock to the system. It was good to get used to playing in that heat again."

France's Gael Monfils brushed off the hotter conditions by saying, "Heat for me is nothing, you know. I'm from the Caribbean. Most of the time I'm out there in November, it's very hot. I've been in Barbados, which is hot. With the wind today, it seems like it was 20 degrees. That's it."

LEGEND WILANDER RECOVERING AFTER FALL
Former World No. 1-turned TV commentator Mats Wilander was the victim of a freak accident late on Saturday evening, suffering a laceration to one of his kidneys. "Mats sustained a fall in his apartment which caused him to be taken to a local hospital in Melbourne," advised a statement on his Facebook page, Wilander On Wheels. RODDICK STARTS TO FEEL HIS AGE
Former World No. 1 Roddick admitted he is having to work harder off the court now that he is 30 years old. "At the US Open, I couldn't sustain it physically for long enough. It just caught up to me. So I think my days of playing 26 events a year are probably done. But however many I do play, I want to make sure that I'm ready to rock each time. I think nowadays it probably takes me six weeks to do what I used to do in three as far as I can't take that workload on a day to day basis. I feel like last year was the hardest one I've had, physically. And I think, therefore, mentally. I felt like I was playing out of shape a lot of the time."

PRESSURE. WHAT PRESSURE?
Kei Nishikori, the No. 24 seed, says he is trying not to think about being seeded at a Grand Slam championship for the first time. "I try not to think about it because if I start thinking, it's get more pressure," said the Japanese star. "It is different, but I try to not think about it.

"My ranking gives me a little bit of pressure because I feel like I have to win with these guys. I have to play with lower ranked guys now. That gives me a little bit of pressure.

Having reached the 2008 US Open fourth round, Nishikori said one of his goals is to reach a quarter-final. "I hope so. That's one of my goal. I played US Open 2008 and I made 16. That's next goal for me. But play one match at a time always. You don't know what's going [to] happen. [There's] always tough opponent."

EBDEN HAPPY WITH HIS DEVELOPMENT
World No. 94 Matthew Ebden, who qualified for the Shanghai Rolex Masters in October last year and reached the quarter-finals, has put his surge up the South African Airways ATP Rankings down to consistency. "It's been a steady progress for me," admitted the Australian, who beat Joao Souza in the first round and has been mentored by WTA great Margaret Court. "I've been, in the last few years, gradually halving my ranking, been going up. It's about consistently winning the matches all in a row. That's obviously where you pick up your big strings of points. It's been a physical development, I think a mental and maturity development. I'm happy with where I'm at, and I'm confident with where I'm going."

MATCH OF THE DAY
The roof over Rod Laver Arena almost took off, when Australians celebrated Lleyton Hewitt's late-night first-round win over Cedrik-Marcel Stebe. Hewitt, the 2005 runner-up and former World No. 1, showed his warrior qualities by battling back from a 1-5 deficit in the fourth set to win 7-5, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in three hours and 18 minutes. Another late finisher, No. 19 seed Viktor Troicki, rallied from a two-sets-to-love deficit to beat Juan Carlos Ferrero 4-6, 6-7(3), 6-2, 7-6(3), 6-2 on Court 18.

AROUND THE GROUNDS
It was a busy second day at Melbourne Park. Fans rocked out to the colourfully named cover band Johnny Wonderpants at the Grand Slam Oval, while Australian Olympic swimmers Sophie Edington and Matt Targett enjoyed Cardio Tennis on Margaret Court Arena. Wimbledon winner Pat Cash provided a mid-session summary outside ANZ World at the Grand Slam Oval, while a number of celebrities enjoyed the tennis, including Melbourne Victory soccer star Harry Kewell.

Brawo Andy. Trochę się meczu z Haase obawiałem, bo Holender jest nieobliczalny. Jeżeli ktoś oglądał pojedynek to byłbym dozgonnie wdzięczny jakby powiedział o grze Roda co nieco. Z Lleytonem Wimbledon 2009 raczej nierealny.

Na youbub'ie jest dwuczęściowy skrót z meczyku Roddicka z Haase (słaba jakość). Powiem tak, stare dobre US Army. On nawiązywał do tego co robił kiedyś, czyli łupał. Styl w jakim wygrał najbardziej mnie cieszy... no i nie wygląda jak zarośnięta małpa tylko jak człowiek. Ta nieogolona facjatka nie służyła mu.
