Paul arrives off the back of a strong grass swing, where he earned a 7-4 record, while Korda will be returning to action for the first time since June, when he picked up an injury in Eastbourne.

Tiafoe could face Korda first up in Atlanta, if the latter overcomes a qualifier in his opening match, while Paul takes on another American in Jack Sock.

Fourth seed Frances Tiafoe awaits in the quarter-finals after his 7-5, 6-4 win against Taro Daniel on Wednesday. Tiafoe owns a 3-0 ATP Head2Head record against his countryman, including wins this season at the ATP Masters 1000s in Indian Wells and Miami.

“He’s definitely had my number... but every match with him is super close and we’re good friends off the court," Nakashima said of the matchup. "Either way, if I play against him, I know it’s going to be a good battle.”

A pair of all-American quarter-finals in the Atlanta draw's bottom half were won by Frances Tiafoe and Jenson Brooksby, who will meet Saturday evening for a place in the final.

The fourth-seeded Tiafoe continued his strong week with a 6-4, 6-2 win against #NextGenATP star Brandon Nakashima. Tiafoe wrapped up the victory in just over an hour for his second straight-sets win in a row. The 24-year-old saved the only break point he faced in the contest while converting on all three of his return chances to advance to his second final of the year (Estoril).

De Minaur/Tiafoe Take Out Washington Top Seeds In Team Debut

Playing together for the first time, Top 30 singles stars Alex de Minaur and Frances Tiafoe scored a big doubles upset on Tuesday at the Citi Open.

The Australian-American pair knocked off top seeds Rajeev Ram and Horacio Zeballos 6-4, 1-6, 10-2 to advance to the quarter-finals at the Washington ATP 500 event. With the defeat, Ram loses out on an opportunity to overtake his full-time partner Joe Salisbury at No. 1 in the Pepperstone ATP Doubles Rankings.

De Minaur/Tiafoe struck late in the opening set but quickly lost the second after failing to convert from 15/40 at 0-2 down on return. But they used runs of four and five straight points to dominate the Match Tie-break.
