Djokovic:
Zverev:'First of all congratulations Sascha to you and your team. You definitely played much better than you had in the group stage. You deserved to win. I wish you all the best for your future.'
'Hopefully I'll play many more years and see you guys here in the years to come. I want to thank my team. Today wasn't a great day for us but if we put things into perspective it was an amazing year, an amazing comeback.'
: 'I was quite disappointed with my game but I'm happy he won a big title because we have a really good relationship. We share a lot on and off the court - friendly and respectful moments. You can see how much it means to him, he deserves it.'
'Healthwise I haven't really been perfect in the last three or four weeks so that took a lot out of me. But at the same time I played finals in Bercy and here so I have to be happy with that. Overall it was a phenomenal season.'
'No one likes to lose a tennis match but when you put things in the larger perspective and see things beyond this little feeling of disappointment you lost, there are lots of positive things to reflect and take from this season.'
'There's a lot of similarities in terms of trajectory in terms of our careers. Hopefully he can surpass me. He seems like someone who is very dedicated, he's a really nice person. He deserves everything he gets, there's a lot of time ahead of him.'
'I wasn't returning well or making him move to much, making too many unforced errors. From 4-4 in the first set my game really fell apart to be honest. But well done to him, he was solid.'
'Certainly winning against Roger anywhere gives you a lot of confidence, positivity. He stayed mentally tough and composed.'
Djokovic on off-season: 'Not much to say about off-season, next two or three weeks not much tennis. After that starting to build and slowly prepare myself for the new season. We don't have much time to have a proper preparation.'
Djokovic on Australian Open: 'Having a Slam so early in the season makes us train hard and be aware we have to be at out best at the beginning of the year. I've had most success in my life in Australia out of all four Slams, hopefully I can keep that coming.'
: 'Right now, I really can't describe it. I want to congratulate Novak on a great week again and not only this week but how we played the second half of this year, we maybe have never seen it before I mean you barely lost a match. I'm very thankful you lost one to me today'
Zverev on Djokovic: 'Everybody knows how good of a tennis player you are but I want everybody to know what a good person you are. You're also a very good sharer of this world. Obviously you could win any match you want. I appreciate you letting me win one today.'
Zverev to the crowd: 'Even though we had a bit of a moment yesterday... I still appreciate each and everyone coming out here and supporting me and really showing love for the sport.
'This trophy means a lot, everything, to all of the players. You only have so many chances to win it and play against the best players only. The way I played today and how I won it - it's amazing.'
'I fell on my knees, so my knees kind of hurt. It's quite astonishing winning this title. Beating two such players back-to-back in semi-finals and finals means so much to me. I'm unbelievably proud of this moment.'
Zverev on Lendl contribution: 'Na he didn't do anything. He talked about golf to me before the match... Na, I'm kidding!'
Zverev on 'leading the future of tennis': 'Those are very deep questions right now. I just can't really be bothered to answer that right now... it's great but the future we've still got multiple years ahead, anything can happen. I'll do everything I can to be on top.'
Zverev asked if it increases pressure to win Grand Slams: 'I believe I'm going to enjoy my holidays right now.'
Going to Dubai and the Maldives, apparently...
Zverev asked about Djokovic's comments: 'Oh, Jesus. Oh, my God. I mean, I've won one of those. He won five. He's won, I don't know what, 148 titles more than me. Let's not go there for now. I hope I can do great. I mean, but just chill out a little bit.'
