Dallas To Host ATP 250 Beginning 2022

The ATP Tour will return to Dallas, Texas, for the first time in more than 30 years next season when one of America’s longest-running tournaments takes anchor in the Lone Star state as the Dallas Open. The ATP 250, the only indoor tour-level event in the United States, will be held at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex at Southern Methodist University.

The tournament, which will be held from 6-13 February 2022, had been played in New York for the past three years. It has a storied history, with former champions including legends John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Michael Chang, Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori.

The Dallas Open marks the return of ATP Tour tennis to Dallas for the first time since 1989. The World Championship of Tennis Finals was held in Dallas from 1971-89.

“GF Sports & Entertainment is proud to bring the Dallas Open, an elite ATP Tour tournament, to the premier Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas, beginning in 2022,” Tournament Director Peter Lebedevs said. “The Dallas Open will shine a global spotlight on the city and be much more than a one-week tennis tournament. In addition to entertainment programming and unique experiential opportunities throughout the tournament, our partnership with SMU and commitment to the community will be year-round and include business, community, tennis initiatives and events. We would like to thank the City of Dallas, our partners at SMU and the ATP for the incredible support during this process to help us bring this world-class tennis event to a world-class city.”

The Isner Family Foundation, established by 15-time ATP Tour Champion John Isner and his family, will serve as a non-profit partner for the event. The Isner Family Foundation provides financial support for qualified families to obtain necessities, such as meals, clothing, transportation, convenient lodging, car seats and medical supplies, while their children are under the care of Children’s Health, one of the largest and most prestigious pediatric health care providers in the country and the leading pediatric health care system in North Texas.

"I am excited to have an ATP Tour event in my home city and to show off Dallas to the other players on the Tour. The Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex is a premier venue. The players are really going to enjoy playing there in front of a knowledgeable tennis crowd,” said Isner, who was on hand for Wednesday's announcement. “I am also proud to have the Isner Family Foundation be one of the non-profit partners for the Dallas Open, and I am looking forward to the positive impact the event will have on the local community."

ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi said, “It’s exciting to have ATP Tour tennis coming to Dallas, a city with such a rich sporting culture and strong roots in tennis. ATP Announces 2021 Q4 Calendar Updates

The ATP has today announced updates to the 2021 ATP Tour Q4 provisional calendar, including the staging of the BNP Paribas Open, the ATP Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, California.

This year’s edition of the BNP Paribas Open, postponed from its customary dates in March due to COVID-19, is now intended to take place in October, for 2021 only.

Elsewhere, the Stockholm Open, originally scheduled to run in Week 42 alongside the VTB Kremlin Cup (Moscow) and European Open (Antwerp), will now take place from 7-13 November in the same week as the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan.

The ATP continues to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in assessing the provisional Q4 calendar, including the three-week sequence of events in Asia, in order to ensure optimised player flow. Further updates, including confirmation of tournament dates and draw size for the BNP Paribas Open, will be communicated in due course.

Andrea Gaudenzi, ATP Chairman, said: “Since the resumption of the Tour in August 2020, we have had to take an agile approach to the calendar with the aim of staging as many of our events as possible. Everyone in our sport has missed the BNP Paribas Open over the past two years and its return this October is great for tennis. The calendar is extremely complex and I would like to thank all events in that section of the season, as we look to accommodate these changes for the benefit of the overall sport.”

In other tournament news, the ATP 250 New York Open has this week announced its relocation to Dallas, Texas, from 2022.

Dobre wieści przekazały władze męskiego tenisa (ATP). Zawody w BNP Paribas Open mają się odbyć jesienią 2021 roku. Organizatorzy turnieju w Indian Wells poinformowali, że gwiazdy światowego tenisa zawitają do Kalifornii w październiku. Dokładnego terminu rozegrania prestiżowej imprezy jeszcze nie określono.



- Kalendarz jest niezwykle napięty i chciałbym podziękować za zrozumienie organizatorom wszystkich turniejów w tej części sezonu, gdyż zmiany mają na celu jedynie dobro sportu. Każdej osobie związanej z naszą dyscypliną brakowało BNP Paraibas Open i powrót tej imprezy w październiku to znakomita wiadomość dla tenisa - powiedział przewodniczący ATP, Andrea Gaudenzi, w komunikacie dla mediów.

Dokładny czas rozgrywania zawodów rangi ATP i WTA 1000 w Indian Wells zostanie ustalony najprawdopodobniej latem. Tytułów z 2019 roku będą bronić Kanadyjka Bianca Andreescu i Austriak Dominic Thiem. Tenisowi działacze monitorują również sytuację w Chinach, które jesienią są gospodarzem licznych imprez. Nie można wykluczyć, że w Państwie Środka nie odbędą się w tym roku żadne turnieje.

ATP Issues 2021 Q4 Calendar Updates

Learn the dates of the BNP Paribas Open

The ATP has announced further updates to the 2021 ATP Tour Q4 calendar, including dates for the BNP Paribas Open, the ATP Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, California.

The ATP edition of the 2021 BNP Paribas Open is scheduled to take place as an eight-day event in Week 41, from 10-17 October, following postponement from its original dates in March due to COVID-19. The men’s event will feature a 56 Main Draw Singles, 28 Main Draw Doubles, and 28 Singles Qualifying draw.

In addition, the Rolex Shanghai Masters, an ATP Masters 1000 event, maintains its intention to stage this season, with the possibility of taking place in Week 40 (to be confirmed).

Elsewhere, the China Open (Beijing) and Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships (Tokyo), both ATP 500 events scheduled in Week 40, have confirmed their cancelation in 2021 due to restrictions related to COVID-19. Also confirmed, the Grand Prix Hassan II (Marrakech) will not take place in 2021, having announced postponement from its April dates earlier in the year.

The ATP continues to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in assessing the provisional Q4 calendar in order to ensure optimised player flow and provide as many playing opportunities as possible. Further updates to the calendar will be communicated in due course.

The ATP has issued further updates to its Q4 2021 ATP Tour calendar, outlining a revised tournament schedule from September through to the culmination of the season in November at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, Italy.

Under the updated calendar, the 2021 Rolex Shanghai Masters will not take place in 2021, due to the impact of COVID-19. The Chengdu Open and Huajin Securities Zhuhai Championships (ATP 250s) have also confirmed their cancellation. In parallel, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells has been expanded to an 11-day event across weeks 40 and 41.

Elsewhere, the St. Petersburg Open (ATP 250) moves to week 43 alongside the Erste Bank Open in Vienna (ATP 500). The revised schedule also sees the addition of two single-year licenses: an ATP 250 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, on indoor hard in week 38; and another ATP 250 in San Diego, California, on hard at the Barnes Tennis Center in week 39. The previously postponed Maharashtra Open in Pune (ATP 250) has also confirmed its cancellation in 2021.
